ANDY’S STORY

A life still deeply missed

Andy was a loyal friend, loving son, hardworking husband, and generous member of the Los Angeles Koreatown community. His friends and family remember the way he showed up for the people he loved and the future he worked hard to build.

One of Andy’s dreams was to create a close community where lifelong friends and their families could grow together. His absence is still felt in ordinary moments—through memories of what he would have said, how he would have responded, and the life he should still be living.

This campaign asks public officials to carefully consider the complete record, the concerns raised by prosecutors, public safety, and the lasting impact of Andy’s death on everyone who loved him.

Tae Kyung “Andy” Sung was killed in Los Angeles.

2018

Conviction and sentence

Misun Yoo was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 16 years to life.

2020

Conviction affirmed

The California Court of Appeal affirmed the conviction.

Parole granted

A parole hearing panel granted parole despite opposition from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
